A fantastic French bow made in Mirecourt around 1830 in the school of the famous Mirecourt and Parisian maker Nicolas Remy Maire. 
 
This bow is made from a superb, choice selection of ironwood, a wood often used in this period by makers such as Peccatte, Pajeot and Adam as an alternative to pernambuco.  We find that the use of ironwood in cello and viola bows can be incredibly rewarding and can play better than pernambuco for a large difference in price. This bow is no exception, the stick draws a rich, rounded tone, offering plenty of strength, stability and flexibility for those faster passages. 
 
This would be ideal for a professional musician or an advancing student looking for a very fine French bow at a fraction of the cost of pernambuco. The condition is excellent.
