A wonderful viola made by George Wulme Hudson in London, circa 1920.  This viola is a very deceptive copy of a Gagliano showing all the classic traits of Hudsons skill as a master faker and craftsman.  Luckily for us he has signed the bottom rib and also branded the bottom block to let us know that he is the actual maker. 
 
Albert Cooper describes Wulme Hudson in an article writen for The Strad magazine as follows;
 
"George Wulme Hudson is certainly proving a sound investment for those who had faith in him. He now takes his rightful place in the English School of violin making. To claim him to be among the finest makers that emerged during the first half of the 20th century is no exaggeration, but a simple statement of fact."
 
The viola is in wonderful, near mint condition and retains the bridge and set up from W. E. Hill & Sons. 
 
It has a powerful, warm tone and would be most certainly suitable as a great companion for a professional musician or progressing student.
